Le Cœur du Ferret, the fifth Iconic House property, opens its doors
News
Cap Ferret, its oysters, its beaches, its lighthouse, its basin, its pinasses, its pinewoods... and a unique holiday atmosphere which, over the years, has made this little paradise on the Atlantic coast an iconic and much-loved holiday destination in France and abroad.
Le Cœur du Ferret, nestled in the heart of the Pointe, one of Le Ferret's most sought-after districts, is situated under the pine trees, in the heart of a lush eden, far from the crowds and glances. Just a stone's throw from Chez Hortense, the region's most legendary restaurant and a firm favourite with Ferretcapiens for a day (or for ever).
"Le Ferret is a place rich in experiences, between the Basin, the Ocean, the villages... and our house is right in the middle of it all. An ideal base camp for experiencing the best of the region." says Thibaud Elzière.
THE CABANE, ICONIC HOUSE VERSION
The project reveals a property designed in the spirit of a Ferretcapian cabin, built to the highest standards by Frédéric Thet, a local architect whose Tdesign Architecture agency is based in Bordeaux, Paris and Cap Ferret. It's like a luxury retreat, almost a secret, immersed in a unique natural setting. Like all the other properties in the Iconic House Collection, the property, one of whose most distinctive features is the combination of wood and coloured enamelled lava on the floors, is available to rent in its entirety.
It has seven bedrooms, each associated with a particular colour. A family suite includes a room reserved for children. At the bottom of the garden, which preserves and multiplies as many local species as possible, is the 'cabanon', a pretty secluded suite with its own private terrace. In the house, a large living room and open-plan kitchen are the central living areas. Outside, there is a heated swimming pool and large terraces, an outdoor cinema and a wellness area (outdoor sauna, sports equipment, etc.).
"When we were thinking about the project, we were quick to build bridges between the property and Mexico. Firstly, because it's a house that can be lived in as much as it is outside, with its many terraces, its abundant garden, its converted nooks and crannies, its outdoor showers... Also because the location and Frédéric Thet's initial ideas naturally drew us into the imaginary world of haciendas, with their buildings organised around the swimming pool, as well as that of the cabanas nestling in the jungle or the beach villas of Baja California." continues Robin Michel.
THE MEXICAN SILVER COAST
The decor explores a Franco-Mexican connivance, cultivating an assertive singularity. A conversation between two cultures, blending contemporary aesthetics and traditional elements, locality and exoticism, vibrancy and lightness. It's a cocoon of eclecticism and diverse influences, from Frida Khalo to Mexican architect Luis Barragán.
For the interior design, the brothers who co-founded Iconic House called on the Jaune Architecture team. Marine Delaloy and Paula Alvarez de Toledo gained their experience at Studio KO and Joseph Dirand respectively. As one of the top 100 designers selected in 2023 by the famous AD magazine (AD 100), the duo has already proved its worth across the Atlantic, with a superb project in La Paz, Mexico, for the Baja Club hotel - forging strong links with the country.
By delving into history and archives, we found an account of a stay by the great Mexican painter Diego Rivera on the Côte d'Argent in the summer of 1918, invited by his friend André Lhote. It was a discovery that reminded him of his native Mexico and inspired several of his paintings. This story only strengthened Thibaud and Robin's resolve. And so the entire art curation process, carried out in collaboration with Joséphine Fossey Office, will draw on the thread of dialogue between the two cultures.
THE ICONIC EXPERIENCE IN CAP FERRET
Constance, a local hospitality professional who has worked in a number of luxury establishments and SPAs, will be welcoming guests to the new property. At Le Ferret, she will embody the culture of living hospitality that is so dear to Iconic House.
"Le Ferret is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area and enjoy memorable local experiences: escape straight from the House on a bike under the pine trees, visit the oyster beds, try your hand at surfing, discover the best restaurants around the Bassin..." adds Robin Michel.
These activities and other good addresses will also be featured in ICONS, the collection of self-published guides launched by Iconic House last December, with the last two issues devoted to Courchevel and Gordes coming out last autumn.
At Le Cœur du Ferret, as at its other exceptional properties, Iconic House invites you to live each moment intensely, to experience time in all its dimensions of pleasure, here and now.
