about

The experience of understated luxury in a remarkable Provençal mas built into the rock at the heart of the Alpilles. Conceived in the spirit of an artist's house, it embraces a mineral elegance, where colour and light shape the volumes and soften the stone. Long lunches, golden-hour swims, shaded afternoons and evenings beneath the stars... Provence at its most essential.

I grew up with my brother in the Alpilles. They shaped the way I see the world and remain the heart of our family's story today.

The destination

The Alpilles, a land of inspiration

Shaped by wind and time, the Alpilles unfold through limestone cliffs and extraordinary landscapes at the heart of a protected natural park. This land of stone and light, which inspired Dante, Cocteau and Van Gogh, embodies a Provence where nature and culture remain in constant dialogue.

In Les Baux-de-Provence, the citadel watches over this mineral landscape, shaped by centuries of history. Below the cliffs, in the heart of the iconic Val d'Enfer, the House finds its place within this remarkable setting. As if it had always belonged there.

Design & art

The Artists’ House

Inspired by places where art and life become one, from Villa Santo Sospir to Takis' studio, the property cultivates a subtle dialogue between architecture, nature and creation. A bespoke bookcase, pieces sourced from the antique markets of Avignon and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a contemporary mural and interventions by emerging artists create a living interior, never fixed in time.

Here, art is not displayed. It is lived with.

Interior design : Josephine Fossey

Art curation : Joséphine Fossey

For several years, Joséphine Fossey has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning creative direction, interior architecture and curation. She creates places where art, design and experience form a coherent and deeply sensitive whole.

She conceived the interiors of L'Étoile des Baux alongside Thibaud Elzière and Robin Michel.

Multidisciplinary artist Florence Bamberger works at the intersection of painting and ceramics. Drawing on decorative arts and visual storytelling, her practice combines figurative compositions, vibrant colours and a richly symbolic imagination.

For L'Étoile des Baux, she created a monumental five-metre-long mural.

French designer Henri Canivez, trained at the Design Academy Eindhoven and shaped by his experience in Philippe Starck's studios, develops a multidisciplinary practice spanning furniture, architecture and creative direction.

For the house, he designed a monumental bespoke bookcase inspired by the world of Miró, whose star motif echoes the property's poetic identity.

Painter and musician based in Arles, Arsène Welkin develops a contemplative body of work shaped by philosophy, mythology and Mediterranean figures. Through portraits, quiet scenes and historical references, his practice creates a sensitive and timeless universe.

One of his paintings, depicting a matador, an emblematic figure of the South, hangs in a bedroom of the main house.
