The destination
Hossegor, France’s California
Set between the ocean, dunes and pine forests, Hossegor has established itself as Europe’s surf capital. Since the 1970s, its waves have drawn surfers from around the world in search of some of the Atlantic’s finest beach breaks. A surf culture that still shapes the town’s atmosphere today: relaxed, sun-filled and effortlessly cool.
Around the marine lake, Hossegor reveals a quieter side. Between long walks beneath the pines and elegant Art Deco villas, the town retains the rare charm of places that feel vibrant, inspired and preserved.

La Surf House
The house offers a free-spirited take on the Landes lifestyle, shaped by surf culture, Californian influences and the legacy of the great Basque-Landes villas. Bespoke pieces, contemporary artworks, craftsmanship and vintage furniture create a warm and distinctive curation, imagined as the backdrop to endless summers by the lake.
Interior Designer : Dorothée Delaye
Art Curation : Joséphine Fossey
Interior architect and designer Dorothée Delaye has developed a sun-filled aesthetic inspired by the South-West of France, California and Brazil. Drawing on the history and spirit of place, she envisioned Les Bords du Lac as a warm and confident Ocean House, blending seventies influences, raw materials, bespoke furniture and vibrant colours.
For several years, Joséphine Fossey has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning creative direction, interior architecture and curation. She creates places where art, design and experience form a coherent and deeply sensitive whole. For Le Cœur du Ferret, she curated the artistic programme alongside Thibaud Elzière and Robin Michel.
Trained in fashion design and upholstery, Sonia Laudet works at the intersection of art and design. Her compositions are instinctive and expressive, shaped by memory, colour and craftsmanship. Based in Bayonne, she created the colourful pool house mural and a textile artwork for Les Bords du Lac.
Having worked across contemporary art and film production between Paris and New York, Élodie Villalon has developed a sensitive and instinctive approach to image-making, deeply influenced by analogue photography. For Les Bords du Lac, she created a selection of photographs, including works from a series shot in the Landes, capturing the South-West’s raw and spontaneous beauty with remarkable softness.
